Scoop Soccer at Siraba School

We know at One Global Village and Siraba School, children involved in organized sports have many physical, developmental, psychological and social benefits. The students at Siraba School play soccer every evening with fierce competition and joy. We are thrilled to take this activity to the next level with Scoop Soccer.

Scoop Soccer’s goal is to teach Village boys (girls to come) the skills and knowledge that comes with organized sports and the education that Siraba School provides. These tools will support the boys and lay the foundation for their futures, may that be in further education or pursuing soccer at a higher level. In either case, they will be prepared with discipline and life skills learned will help them be successful in future endeavors and encounters.

Manager and Founder of the Scoop Soccer Program is our longtime friend, Ibrahim Kante. He is inspired by his own story and many others that he grew up with in Bamako, Mali. Boi Doumbia will assist Ibrahim as he becomes more and more involved in OGV leadership.

The Scoop Soccer Program will be in Dagabo, Mali, home to Siraba School. The Village Chief has designated land for the field, with additional surrounding space to accommodate housing for coaching staff. Siraba School students will have priority in participation, then others from surrounding Villages. All Scoop Soccer participants must attend Siraba School and maintain above average grades.

First steps. Ibrahim, through his many contacts in Bamako, will interview and hire a coach(s) to manage the program locally. The field location will be prepared, dirt playing field to start. Uniforms and equipment will be procured for the players. We would like to have these first steps completed for the 2023 – 2024 school year, beginning in September.
